2017 new candle scents launched

2017 new candle scents launched

Here’s a sneak preview of new scents for Spring 2017. I have been thinking about a more masculine range of candles. I’ve started with soft leather and a smokey bacon scent. I asked my friends, they came out with scents like farts and petrol. Not sure if these would actually sell!  For valentine’s day (and beyond) I have chosen Romance is in the air, Midnight Amber and Love Potion. All real classy fragrances.  For the opulent end of the market, I’ve made some Earl Grey and Cucumber, Black Pomegranate and Lime, Basil and Mandarin. For those who know their candles, you will recognise these scents from the very high end of candle making. I have no idea how they get away with charging their extortinate prices, but there we are! These candles will be on my website and in Winifred and Mabel in the next week. Once I’ve gone through the process of photography and writing product descriptions etc etc! Making the candles is the easy part of the process. Selling them is entirely different.  I’ll also look at making some glass jars soon.  Let me know what you think on social media… Karen...

Great Cornish Food Store, Tregurra Park, Truro

I was overjoyed to be asked to make some soft furnishings for the new cafe in the Great Cornish Food Store, next to Waitrose in Truro. This store is totally dedicated to Cornish producers, and is run along the same ethos as my own shop, Winifred and Mabel. The brief was to suggest some coastal fabrics, and to make cushions suspended from scaffold poles, which also had to be removable!   Our beautiful, independent grocery store, with its own butcher, fishmonger and chef-led café, deli, and takeaway. Filled with exceptional food and drink from Cornwall and co-located with Waitrose in Truro, it’s a food retail-first for Cornwall and Britain.   They are now up and running and I’m looking forward to making a return visit, or three!...
